WALGETT HEALTH FACILITY WALGETT, NEW SOUTH WALES

MRN was approached to assist in expanding services at the Walgett Health facility in Northern NSW, 648 km northwest of Sydney. Working with Constructive Dialogue Architects, key elements of the project included:
- prefabricating significant portions of the site using a pretensioned slab system
- developing a footing strategy that establishes a stable raft base to each part of the building
- developing a structure linking different parts of the building in a manner that allows movement
- enhancing outdoor, shaded areas to support social interaction
- relocation of emergency services
- six buildings include a new staff station and
- new resuscitation/treatment area
The result was a culturally appropriate, welcoming environment with the flexibility to support changing programs. The upgraded facility will provide improved access to health care services health care, particularly to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in rural and remote areas across the state. It was delivered on time and within budget.
