Over many years of delivering buildings to remote locations throughout Australia, MRN Construction has identified the importance of controlling the critical functions that can impact quality and schedule.
Steel fabrication, concrete slab manufacture and transport logistics are managed in-house by MRN. The development of these functions has seen the establishment of an internal capability that ensures flexibility, creativity in design and product quality. This gives us the ability to service our facilities and sites in a cost-effective and timely manner. Providing various services also enables us to overcome the challenges associated with remote work.

Good site preparation is fundamental to achieving successful project delivery. MRN Construction can provide a full suite of civil services to prepare sites for the construction of all buildings. We own and manage a fleet of civil equipment with fully trained operators. This enables us to control the timing and quality of site preparations to minimise unforeseen issues when delivering buildings to the site. In addition to using its own equipment, MRN Construction will, where possible, contract and manage local contractors, providing work and training opportunities for the communities in which we work.
MRN Construction designs and fabricates steel frames and structural steel in-house at its Pinjarra facility and has additional fabrication capacity in Darwin and Alice Springs. We can manufacture everything from lightweight house frames to heavy structural steel components for commercial buildings.
Quality steel fabrication is fundamental to achieving delivery schedules and building quality with a modular product. Unfortunately, MRN’s experience has shown that most third-party steel framing systems are not sufficient to withstand the harsh conditions experienced in remote locations. Fabricating in-house using Australian fabricated steel, such as BlueScope’s Truecore steel, allows us to provide a critical component to overcome these deficiencies and have greater control within the supply chain.
MRN Construction has long-standing relationships with key transport providers, ensuring supply chain logistics and site delivery are actively managed to achieve project timelines. A fleet of owner-operated road trains supply materials between our manufacturing facilities in Pinjarra, Alice Springs, and Darwin, enabling us to deliver equipment and materials to remote building locations efficiently. With the ability to manage our logistics, MRN ensures materials are delivered on time and damage free while maintaining cost control.
MRN also caters to its civil operations by transporting equipment and accommodation units between our remote construction sites. In addition, MRN works with local communities to assist with the supply of essential service materials to local community shops and businesses.
MRN Construction is unique in that it manufactures pre-stressed concrete flooring modules for all of our builds. Currently, our facilities in Alice Springs, Darwin, and Tailem Bend have this capacity. Concrete flooring in modular buildings is superior to any other flooring system on the market for its price, quiet and comfort underfoot, faster construction, thermal properties, and customisation. We can also batch concrete in remote locations to facilitate site installations. Timely access to quality concrete is critical for delivering and installing building solutions in remote areas.
